On July 7, 1946, Frances Xavier Cabrini became a saint.
The image is taken from the 1946 canonization celebrations at Sant’Angelo Lodigiano.
On that date there were solemn religious services, blessing of vehicles, several illuminations and musical concerts, a float contest and fireworks.
On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of her canonization Sr. Lina Colombini, former General Superior who left us recently, wrote this:
“A sanctity marked by the passion for God, admired, loved and served through the numerous brothers and sisters, kids and teenagers, suffering and helpful people, who found in her, together and everywhere, a mother’s heart. That’s why today she is still in everybody’s memory and prayers. A sanctity, that of Mother Cabrini, which was not marked by extraordinary events, but by an extraordinary ability to reside in God, and at the same time attentive and absorbed in the human being’s needs. Contemplation and action were a unique thing in her.”
