On October 15 and 16, Sister Maria Regina, Assistant General, participated in two important days for our Institute in Borghetto Lodigiano.
On the first day there was a Eucharistic celebration in the parish of Borghetto, the church of San Bartolomeo, in the presence of the mayor Dr. Giovanna Gargioni, the civil authorities and the director of “Il cittadino” Lorenzo Rinaldi as well as representatives of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
In the evening of Friday took place the presentation, always at the parish church, of the volume “1886…2021 History of a school”, a work that traces the local history through the life in the school of the sisters, with many documents, some curiosity and anecdotes and many beautiful pictures edited by Angelo Botti. The author, Angelo Botti, is the great-grandson of three Missionaries of the Sacred Heart who died on missions (two in the United States and one in Nicaragua). Our “Memoirs” say: On November 16, 1886, Mother herself accompanied the first five religious destined to open an external school in that country. The population enthusiastically welcomed the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart of Jesus…… And we know that “on 16 December 1906 Mother Cabrini also agreed to run a rest home by sending 3 Sisters…”.
The speakers were the parish priest don Andrea Coldani, don Fiorenzo and Mother Maria Regina.

On Saturday, October 16, there was the inauguration of the monument for the victims of the Covid in Borghetto, a memorial stone that is nothing more than part of the trunk of the marenin that gave refreshment to the students of the school; a square was inaugurated (in the parking lot of Via Cavour) to the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. In fact, the Administration wanted to name the square as a sign of extreme gratitude for the missionary work carried out for several generations of borghettini. We admired the work of Gianfranco Pasquali that celebrates and makes eternal the memory of the work of the Cabrinian schools in Borghetto and we experienced the joy of the little ones of the Parish Nursery School that still today makes alive the work of Saint Francesca Cabrini. It was a very heartfelt meeting attended by the population, which has always had an affectionate remembrance of all the Sisters, daughters of Mother Cabrini.
