PALMA DI MONTECHIARO. A palmese delegation of lay missionaries from the “St. Francesca Cabrini” Association reached the United States of America on a pilgrimage in the footsteps of the Universal Patroness of Migrants. The decision by President Antonietta Scopelliti and the delegation was decided after Cardinal Blase Cupich, Archbishop of Chicago, for the benefit of the souls entrusted to his pastoral care, requested the Apostolic Penitentiary of His Holiness Pope Francis, Bishop of Rome, to grant the grace and favor of a special Jubilee Year in honor of the 75th Anniversary of the Canonization of St. Frances Cabrini, and the privilege of Plenary Indulgence for the duration of the year, from Nov. 13, 2021 to Nov. 13, 2022. In addition, on August 24, 2021, Cardinal Mauro Piacenza, Major Penitentiary of His Holiness Pope Francis, granted the request and granted this special Jubilee Year beginning on November 13, 2021, with a solemn liturgy at the National Shrine of St. Frances Cabrini in Chicago. This Jubilee Year privilege is extended to the Cathedral of the Holy Name of the Universal Patroness of Migrants. The well-deserving Francesca Cabrini Association of Palma di Montechiaro shared, with great joy, this significant event for Palmese lay missionaries. And so a delegation made up of some members, wanted to pay homage to the Saint in thanksgiving for the 25th Year of Foundation[ July 15.1997- 2022 ] of the Association that in the little town of the Leopard has carried out and continues to carry out many humanitarian actions in favor of many illegal immigrant non-EU unaccompanied children as well. The delegation went to the United States of America ” to experience the opportunity, motivated by the desire to draw example and witness from St. Frances Cabrini great missionary, to have stimulus and courage and strength to walk towards Jesus.” The itinerary included two stops. The first in New York and the second stop in Chicago.” The paths of us pilgrims,” confessed President Antonietta Scopelliti, moved, “have put us in search of the essential. We do not hide that the emotion was great in seeing those places whose Cabrinian signs were of a very deep resonance that helped us reflect on the great themes that existence poses to us every day: mercy, the courage to go forward, dedication to others. Everything was a reason to know more about the life of St. Frances Cabrini who seriously sought God and gave her life to her neighbor. by Filippo Bella
