March came in as a lion in Italy, and since this is the third week of lockdown, we don’t know if it will exit like a lamb. What we do know is that Life has changed. We are in the fourth week of Lent; it is not the Lent of our choosing. At the same time, it is a time of prayer, sacrifice, reflection and hopefully deepening our relationship with God and each other, even as we practice ‘social distancing.’

Being a part of our MSC Generalate Community in Rome, we are supportive of each other and join Pope Francis and our sisters and brothers throughout the world in constant prayer for an end to this pandemic, the eternal peace of those who have lost their lives, and the consolation of those who mourn them.

Our faith and history show us that nothing is insurmountable. We need to rely on the One Who loves us and walks with us, especially when a typhoon of illness is circling our globe. Keeping in contact with Sisters, family and friends strengthens our links when we most need it. Following all the regulations and restrictions in place may be inconvenient, but they are most necessary. Using common sense, not giving way to panic or fear, and encouraging one another are the ways we are hopefully moving together into a new tomorrow we call Easter.
