Visit of H.E. Mons. Maurizio Malvestiti to Codogno
On Friday, September 4th, His Excellency Mons. Maurizio Malvestiti, Bishop of Lodi, gave us a surprise, coming to Codogno to pray at the Heart of St. Frances Cabrini and pay a brief visit to the Cabrinian Museum. He had previously gone to the Birthplace of St. F. Cabrini in Sant'Angelo Lodigiano.
The reason for the visit was to introduce these Cabrinian places to a priest friend of his, parish priest of a church in Barcelona, whom he brought with him: Fr. Giampaolo Ghisleni, originally from Bergamo, who wished to learn more closely about the life of Saint Frances Cabrini, to whom the church he leads will be dedicated.
Fr. Giampaolo told us that, in order to choose the saint to whom the church would be dedicated, a shortlist of names was presented to the community: the parish people chose Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini by a large majority of preferences.
Barcelona is home to about 50,000 migrants, and Fr. Giampaolo's church is attended by many of them. Let us pray that Mother Cabrini may be a comforter to the many brothers, sisters, children and young people living the drama of emigration, caused by conflicts, wars and suffering.
