Today, the Global Assembly of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, entitled “Consecrated Women Pilgrims of Hope,” began at the Ergife Hotel in Rome.
The Superior General, Sister Maria Eliane Azevedo da Silva, opened with words of welcome. At the heart of her speech was her invitation to the sisters, in which she said: “May we put into practice every day the teaching of Mother Cabrini: ‘A bond unites us in the Heart of Jesus.’ In this way, our sense of belonging, listening, and communion will produce the fruits of God's spirit in the world.”
Sister Gloria Liliana Franco Echeverri, a religious of the Order of the Company of Mary Our Lady, President of CLAR, Confederation of Religious Men and Women of Latin America and the Caribbean, gave a lecture on consecrated life.
This was followed by the presentation of the book “The Sacred Heart of Jesus and Mother Cabrini,” edited by Lucetta Scaraffia, historian, journalist, and writer.
The day continued with Holy Mass presided over by Father Nibin Palatty, SDV, and concelebrated by Father Josè Cristo Rey Garcia Paredes, CMF.
The day ended with a cultural evening in which each country brought its own music, dances, costumes, and some typical food to offer.
Facilitating the Assembly during these days were Sr. Imma de Stefanis, RSCJ, and Sr. Reyna Gonzales, RSCJ.
