On October 8, the opening Mass of the Jubilee of Consecrated Life was held at the Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls in Rome. Ninety-seven MSC sisters from missions around the world were present, having arrived in Rome to participate in this Jubilee and subsequently in the Global Assembly. After passing through the Holy Door, the sisters went inside the Basilica where a beautiful Eucharistic celebration presided over by Monsignor Rino Fisichella was held behind the central altar.
After the celebration, the sisters walked in a small procession from the Basilica to the garden where the statue is located. where they paid homage to Mother Cabrini with white flowers and recited a prayer. Afterwards, several photos were taken around the sculptural representation of our Holy Foundress, and red roses were presented to Mrs. Carol Christiansen, accompanied by Mrs. MaryAnn Miskieqicz. Mrs. Christiansen, who also donated the twin statue located outside Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago and who, for health reasons, was unable to attend the statue's inauguration last November, gladly participated in the celebration and prayer dedicated to Saint Cabrini.
On October 8, after the celebration at St. Paul Outside the Walls, the MSC sisters went on pilgrimage to the Basilica of St. Mary Major, stopping at the tomb of Pope Francis, where they recited a prayer of thanksgiving for his pontificate and one to Our Lady of Grace.
In the afternoon, the pilgrimage continued to the Basilica of St. John Lateran with a prayer dedicated to Consecrated Life and Future Vocations.
The next day, October 9, Pope Leo's Mass was held in St. Peter's Square, followed by the MSC pilgrimage to the Holy Door with the Jubilee Cross.
