Jubilee of the Young Cabrinians

Jubilee of the Young Cabrinians

First Day

Today marks the beginning of the Youth Jubilee. Here at Casa Cabrini in Rome, we are also preparing for this wonderful week full of encounters and sharing! Long live youth, long live the Cabrini youth!

This morning, we prayed together and then got to know each other a little better thanks to a very fun dynamic activity.

But we also had fun singing and dancing together!

Second day

Last night, at Casa Cabrini in Rome, Mass was celebrated by Father Jerome Catubag, SDV, and prepared by young people from Spain and Italy, while Eucharistic adoration was led by young people from Argentina, Brazil, and Paraguay. It was a very intense moment for everyone!

This morning, after the prayer prepared by young people from Guatemala and eSwatini, there was a round table discussion on the theme “Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini, spirituality and mission that flow from the heart,” led by young people from Nicaragua, who also coordinated the activities for the entire day. Lia from Nicaragua said: “We are young, we have energy to share the spirituality of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Our essence is God.”

This afternoon they will go to St. Peter's Square for the opening Mass of the Youth Jubilee.

Third day

This morning, before going on pilgrimage to the four major basilicas to pass through the Holy Doors, the young people, together with their companions, prayed in the Church of the Most Holy Redeemer and St. Frances Cabrini in Via Sicilia.

Yesterday, the young people went to St. Peter's Square for the welcome Mass and opening of the Jubilee, presided over by Monsignor Rino Fisichella, pro-prefect of the Dicastery for Evangelization, which concluded with Pope Francis greeting the 120,000 young people present in the square.

The Holy Father told them that they are the “salt and light of the earth” and invited them to join him on Saturday for the vigil at Tor Vergata.

Fourth day

Here are some photos of the young people on pilgrimage to Rome at the basilicas of St. John Lateran, St. Mary Major, St. Peter's, and St. Paul Outside the Walls. In these two basilicas, they also found the statue of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini, inside St. Peter's in a side aisle, while in St. Paul's, the statue was recently installed in the garden outside the basilica. Today, another pilgrimage awaited them, this time to the land of St. Francis in Assisi.

Fifth day

On Friday, the young people experienced an intense journey of faith and sharing.

In the morning, they visited the Catacombe di Santa Agnese, walking through the sacred places of the early Christians.

They then proceeded with a visit to the Holy Door of San Giovanni in Laterano and, finally, experienced the Penitential Day at the Circo Massimo, a time of prayer, silence, and reconciliation.

A day full of emotions, spirituality, and hope.

Sext day

On Saturday, August 2, on the occasion of their Jubilee, a million young people headed to Tor Vergata. While waiting for the Holy Father to arrive, the young people sang and danced in a huge celebration that smelled of heaven and was characterized by the hope in their hearts. Then the Pope arrived and the young people exploded with joy as they ran to meet him. During the vigil, three young people, one Spanish-speaking, one Italian-speaking, and one English-speaking, asked the Holy Father questions about their future.

This was followed by an adoration filled with light, a luminous night with much joy still in the air until the next day, with Mass presided over by the Holy Father.

Before setting the date for World Youth Day, which will be held in Seoul in 2027, Pope Leo left this message for all young people: “Aim high! Bring holiness wherever you are! Don't settle for less!”

Our young people were also there to share this moment of light, joy, and hope. Some young Cabriniani entrusted themselves to the Sacred Heart of Jesus after all these days of grace, encounters, and sharing, offering the Cabrinian mission in the same chapel where Mother Cabrini prayed in the Church of Jesus in Rome. Here are some photos!
