And it is precisely in the chapel of the school where we are celebrating this important anniversary that the painting depicting Saint Mary Alacoque is still preserved. We read this in the book "The Sacred Heart and Mother Cabrini":
"In March 1844, as soon as the monastery was established, Don Domenico Savaré entrusted the care and upkeep of the orphans to Mother Verzeri, who willingly took on this task and, among other things, had the evocative painting (see photo) placed above the altar in the chapel. It depicts the Visitation Sister Margaret Mary Alacoque, “the beloved disciple of the Sacred Heart,” to whom Jesus appears, revealing His Heart to her. It is very likely that, before this painting, St. Francis Xavier Cabrini, from a young age, found a source of inspiration for her prayer, and she was always aided in her meditation by her spiritual director, the parish priest Monsignor Bassano Dedé (1857–1892), who also administered her First Communion on Easter Sunday, 1863—an event that greatly influenced her religious formation."
