The MSC are committed to responsible fiscal and moral stewardship of temporal goods. As bearers of the love of Christ to the world, we use temporal goods to support the needs of the world’s most vulnerable populations, including women, children, frail elders and immigrants.

Our Mission Finance leaders and partners pursue our vision through Impact Investing, a form of investing that generates positive social and/or environmental impact and financial return.

What We Support

The MSC’s Impact Investing effort supports a variety of sectors including:

  • education
  • healthcare
  • financial inclusion
  • clean water
  • renewable energy
  • affordable housing
  • sustainable agriculture
  • and more

Focus on Mass Migration & Displacement

Additionally, in a time of unprecedented mass migration and displacement of persons around the world, the MSC are inspired by their foundress Saint Frances Cabrini, who was proclaimed the Patroness of Immigrants in 1950.

Thus, the Impact Investing portfolio will focus especially on the needs of those who are forced to migrate due to poverty, climate change, lack of work, or racial and religious persecution.

Our impact investing practice is a missionary tool for spreading Christ’s love throughout the world and going where others do not go. Our impact investment portfolio focuses on helping vulnerable populations, particularly vulnerable migrants.

Behind each of our investments, there are lives and stories to tell.

Impact Investing FAQ

Our impact investing practice is a missionary tool for spreading Christ’s love throughout the world and going where others do not go. Our impact investment portfolio focuses on helping vulnerable populations, particularly vulnerable migrants.

We invest globally and have a preference for investing in the 17 countries where our sponsored ministries work.

We are sector agnostic and instead focus on reaching the most vulnerable segments of society, whether through education, housing, financial services, energy access, agriculture, etc.

We work with both for-profit and not-for-profit organizations. If an organization is for-profit, it must have an explicit positive social or environmental component to its mission. We also invest in private debt and private equity funds, and fund of funds strategies.

We make both private debt and equity investments. We will invest in fund strategies but also make loans or provide equity capital directly to not-for-profits, social enterprises, and financial intermediaries. We support a diverse array of organizations ranging from small early stage companies to larger, more mature fund managers.

Some of our impact investments generate market-rate returns commensurate with their level of risk. Others do not, if we believe a lower rate of return is required to achieve the intended impact outcome.

As Catholic asset owners we adhere to the Socially Responsible Investment Guidelines issued by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) and invest in line with Catholic Social Teachings.

See our Impact Investing page for a list of some of our impact investments.
