Mother Cabrini School Christmas Cantata celebrates its 10th anniversary
The Cantata project began with the school’s Pastoral Ministry in 2013 and, the following year, became part of the 5th grade music curriculum. The children study composers and singers of Brazilian popular music. In the 3rd trimester,
they get to know and practice the Christmas songbook. Thus, the Cantata becomes a rite of passage for the children from the 5th grade to the 6th grade – Elementary grades to the final grades.
From the windows of the building listed by the municipal historic heritage – at the crossroads of
Domingos de Moraes and Madre Cabrini streets, in Vila Mariana – the students sing Christmas songs.
O event has already become a trademark in the neighborhood, and shopkeepers soon ask when
will be. Parents and other people from the community are also present, giving prestige to the
children around the school.
O building with its huge windows brightens up the event even more which leaves a mark of the Christmas spirit on those who visit us these days and enchants everyone who passes through the streets, leaves the Vila Mariana subway and returns home touched by the art and music sung by the children.
