Today and tomorrow are two very important holidays for the Institute. The first commemorates the beatification of Mother Cabrini on November 13, 1938 by Pope Pius XI while the Institute was founded on November 14, 1880.

If for the Beatification, in 1938, the Sisters of the Community of Rome had been decisive, including above all, Mother G. Diotti and M. S. De Maria, […]for the Canonization, apart from the iron will of Mother Antonietta Della Casa, the Sisters of the United States had been decisive. In the beatification processes, Mother Maria G.Diotti testified that Cabrini had visited various Marian shrines, including “Pompeii, Lourdes, Loreto…and others.” (from The Message of the Holy House – Loreto page 137 edited by Father Marcello Montanari.”

Mother Xavier De Maria (1870 – 1945). Mother Xavier De Maria, was later also a close collaborator of the Superior General who succeeded Mother Cabrini. She wrote the first Biography of Mother Cabrini, collected the Memoirs of the Houses of the Congregation, processed and coordinated the collection of documentation for Mother Cabrini’s Beatification and Canonization that took place the year after her death in 1946. She founded and led the Liceo Classico in Rome, and was responsible for the legal management of many of the Congregation’s schools, drawing up programs and procuring the necessary certifications for the cultural changes taking place in Italy and abroad.
