Joint effort
Saint Mary Magdalen Community in Uganda is risen!
This was the verbal expression of the Community Coordinator after receiving the news of the financial support to complete the construction of the Chapel.
Among the six communities in the Pagrinya Settlement, this is the poorest and the only one that did not have a space to celebrate and meet. Everything is done in the shade of a big tree, between the rocks.
The Community is made up of refugees from 4 different tribes and each tribe has its own language, which makes participation very difficult. The celebrations and training are held in English and translated into different languages, which makes it a little tiring.
With the donation received from the Cabrini Mission Foundation, we decided to propose financial aid for this community, as it is the poorest and responds to an urgent need, as stated in the Chapter Conclusions.
We met with the Coordination and said that we could collaborate with the coverage of the Chapel. The community was motivated and organized to build the walls. Women carry water and cook, teenagers make bricks and clay, children carry bricks and clay close to the building, and young people and adults build the walls.
We were thrilled when we received a message saying that the walls were already being raised. On the morning of this last Tuesday, we participated with them in the second moment of construction and we were very grateful to God for the motivation, work and joy of each one.
The community just needed a financial incentive for coverage and, soon, we will have space to celebrate and develop projects for human and Christian promotion.
Thanks be to God Who makes new everything, every day!
