The Shrine is delighted to share in a collaborative effort with the Archdiocese during Migration Week (September 18-24).  Below are the details and attached is the Archdiocesan flyer.   If any of you are in the area, please know you are welcome to attend.  There is no charge or registration needed.  This is a joint effort between the Immigration Ministry of the Archdiocese and The National Shrine of Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini (thank you Nancy Golen!!). 

  • The theme for this event is Understanding the Dynamics of the Current Migration Situation
  • Location:  The Shrine @ 2520 N Lakeview Avenue Chicago, IL  60614
  • The date of the event is Thursday, September 21, 2023 @ 6:45pm, following the 6pm mass at the Shrine
  • Bishop Casey will present opening remarks followed by:
  • Todd Scribner from the USCCB, who will state the stance of the USCCB on the current migration of asylum seekers
  • Representative of the USCCB (name to be determined) who will speak on the political/economic conditions in Venezuela fueling the increase in migration
  • Daniel Meyer, an immigration lawyer from Beyond Legal Aid who will explain the process of seeking asylum
  • An asylum-seeking family who will introduce themselves and be available to answer any questions that attendees may have.
