Mother Cabrini’s carriage has been moved from West Park, NY and is now on permanent display at the St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Shrine in Manhattan where visitors and pilgrims are delighted and intrigued by its presence. The carriage resides at the entrance to the Shrine underneath the striking stained glass image of Mother Cabrini.
Mother Cabrini worked, vacationed and visited regularly in West Park.
This horse drawn carriage was her method of transportation. She and her Missionary Sisters used it to pick up children at the train station and to do errands.
The carriage was lovingly restored by the maintenance workers at Cabrini West Park in 2009.
